The wasted cost when the water is not hot in hotel business

“You don’t really know this when the thing is right, you know when the thing is wrong”

This statement applies so well with the water heating system. In reality, we don’t really know if the system still works properly. We only do when something is wrong, and until then, it’s probably too late. In the

hotel business, the consequence is unsatisfied guests and negative complaints. Furthermore, you may even have to give them some remedies. These are the experiences that hotels do not wish to encounter (including other systems).

Hot water is something that guests have direct contact because it is a basic facility just like the air conditioner and comfy bed. When some of these are wrong, it is more disturbing than the room atmosphere or any other facilities. I believe many of you may have had bad experiences with hotels. Sometimes, it takes a long time for the shower to be heated or the temperature is not consistent. What exactly is the cause of heating system dysfunction, which is a headache for every hotel?

From over 15 years of experience with all sizes of hotel, small or large, or as cheap as a hundred baht per night or a hundred thousand, the heating system seems to be taken for granted. For example, some hotels are about to open its business, but still do not know what type of system to use. When they run out of idea or time, they usually end up installing the simple water heater on the wall.

Whether a small system like in the induction water heater, an electric boiler, or a large system, there are many elements that can cause problems, including bad design, low quality materials, overload, and poor maintenance. These factors are the basics for every system, not just the water heater.

Whatever cause it is, the direct impact on the hotel is dissatisfied customers, and as a consequence, being forced to give discount of rooms, vouchers, or changing the rooms for them. Now, imagine a dysfunction of the central water heating system. How could you possibly change the rooms for all guests? It’s simple. You can’t. And you’ll probably have to let them stay for free.

As a guest, one may not know how the water heating system works. People who should know best are the engineers and technicians at the hotel. In normal circumstances, when the system functions well, they do not inspect it as thoroughly as they are supposed to, except that the hotel has a good maintenance plan.

When the system is out of order when the hotel cannot close the service, the technician team needs to replace the equipment immediately or install additional electrical water heater just to handle with the problems before hand. Most of the time, the temporary heaters are used for only a few times and then replaced. And the electricity bill is inevitable. What’s worse is when the problem occurs so often, you have to turn on the backup heater all the time just to be sure. Sometimes, you don’t know that you are wasting a lot of money for the power bills, especially when the water heating system is install on the rooftop or underground, where it’s very difficult to perform routine maintenance.

Therefore, such a small thing as dysfunctional heating system can cost a hotel dearly, not to mention customer’s negative reviews and complaints on the website which will discredit the hotel in the future.
